Agents of the Narcotics and Organized Crime squad found the lab Tuesday on West Hill Circle while serving a search warrant on David Reichard, 29, said Capt. Richard Conklin.
Conklin said the team removed three 200- to 400-pound pill pressing machines, pill dyes and thousands of Percocet pills, which he said were manufactured in the barn of the home.
Carfentanil is a synthetic opiate and animal tranquilizer used on livestock and elephants and is a 100 times stronger than fentanyl, which is at least 50 times more lethal than heroin.
Reichard was charged with possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics. He’s being on $750,000 bond.
"This is a very fluid case and we expect to see additional charges in the future," Conklin said.
The DEA and its clandestine laboratory enforcement team worked to take apart the operation that included instructions on how to mix carfentanil, as well as cutting agents, an assault rifle and a large amount of ammunition, Conklin said.
Officials declined to say how much carfentanil was seized but did confirm it was the largest bust in Stamford.
